You have the right straightener. It could be your hair. I straightened my hair almost everyday because I couldn't stand having fluffy hair. When I started doing that, my hair was dead & the straightener couldn't even work it's magic anymore.
Go to the salon & get your hair deep conditioned about once every 2 or 3 months. This softens your hair so it's back to the soft hair it was when you were a little kid. If you keep this up, you can straighten your hair as much as you want & your straightener can do it's job just fine. Just make sure your hair isn't dead. If it does start becoming dried up again, go to the salon & do it all over again.
I don't have to straighten my hair that much anymore since my hair is soft & flat now from all the deep conditioning. But now, I don't have to burn my hair by putting the straightener on number 25. It'll work even on setting 5 or 10.
Yeah, those Magic Erasers are great for removing the "unremoveable" but they do lift a layer paint with it. You can paint your doors with a layer of clear acrylic, this will create a new layer of shine.
There's a very good chance that your plastic no longer shines because it's full of very small scratches from previous cleanings. Once the polish is gone, the only way to get that factory gloss is to polish it smooth again.
You must first remove any chemical residue – which it sounds like you already did. If there's lime or scale, then remove it with a good acid or scale remover.
When the tub is clean, take an random orbit electric car buffer (~ $40 at Sears), and a bottle of fine plastic polish (Novus makes a good line – consider the #2 polish). Consider wet sanding the sub with 600 grit wet paper first to even the surface, and then apply the polish to your buffing pad. Don't press too hard or you will embed the grit into the tub.
When you're finished, clean it completely with you favorite mild abrasive-free cleanser.

THEN ADD A LITTLE AMOUNT OF WATER TO A COTTON PATH AND POLISH YOUR SHOE IN CIRCLES… GO AROUND YOUR SHOE UNTIL SHINES, WHEN THE SHOE IS SHINING GO TO YOUR MOM'S CLOSET AND TAKE THE OLDEST PANTIHOSE TO DO THE LAST SHINE, IN THIS POINT YOU HAVE TO DO IT HARD UNTIL YOU SEE YOUR FACE REFLECTED IN THE SHOE. REPEAT THE PROCESS WITH THE OTHER SHOE. YOU CAN USE KIWI SHOEPOLISH.
